PETA Joins the Abortion Debate?

April 17, 2010 by

In an effort to promote veganism (and ultimately animal rights), PETA issued the follow press release this last week:

“In the wake of reports that Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman signed two bills broadening the restrictions on abortion, PETA is weighing in on the issue … kind of. The group plans to erect a billboard in Lincoln that reads, “Pro-Life? Go Vegan.” Click here to see the billboard.

“People who support slaughterhouses every time they lift a fork cannot call themselves ‘pro-life,’” says PETA Vice President Bruce Friedrich. “We’re asking pro-life advocates to keep every heart beating by going vegan.”

In today’s industrialized meat and dairy industries, chickens and turkeys have their throats cut while they’re still conscious, piglets have their tails and testicles cut off without being given any painkillers, fish are suffocated or cut open while they’re still alive on the decks of fishing boats, and calves are taken away from their mothers within hours of birth.”

I am rarely surprised anymore, but it is interesting (actually, disgusting) how some people (and specifically those in PETA) can place human life on the same level as animal life.

But this isn’t anything new. PETA has been slowly working to change the public’s mindset on the issue of “animal rights” for years. In 2003, they released a a campaign called “Holocaust on Your Plate” to promote vegetarianism. The campaign “wants to stimulate contemplation of how the victimization of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, and others characterized as ‘life unworthy of life’ during the Holocaust parallels the way that modern society abuses and justifies the slaughter of animals.”

This is in their own words! You just can’t make this stuff up! Needless to say, this type of comparison dilutes the sanctity and immense value of human life. Bottom line, pray.

Their pro-life go vegan signs should be taken down. The reason. They state that you should not eat meat if you are pro-life but PETA does not exclude those who are pro-choice from joining and belonging to PETA. It should be a two way street. If Pro-life should be PETA then PETA should be pro-life!

There is nothing wrong with eating meat…Jesus tells us ‘What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him ‘unclean,’ but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him ‘unclean.’” Matthew 15:11
