Yuehua – Survivor #2

March 2, 2010 by

The odds were stacked against her from the very beginning. Conceived in China at a time when the two child policy was in place, Yuehua’s parents were terrified of the consequences they would face if they were discovered expecting a third child. To make matters worse, Yuehua’s father worked for the government. If caught, they could lose their only source of income, be ostracized in the community, face a heavy fine that would be nearly impossible to satisfy or endure a forced abortion. Under the weight of great fear, Yuehua’s parents realized that they would probably have to terminate the baby. Seven weeks into the pregnancy, Yuehua’s mother made the difficult decision to get an abortion. As she left for the clinic, Yuehua’s grandmother stepped in and offered to raise Yuehua as her own daughter.

Three decades later, Yuehua is a vibrant, young woman and has reconciled with her parents. She enjoys a relationship with her mother and father that she wasn’t able to have as a child. The best part of this story is that Yuehua has led over 170 people to Christ in China – including her grandmother!
